Today, Sunday, the interim government of Lebanon announced the imposition of new and strict restrictions in an attempt to curb the spread of the new Corona virus in the country.

The Interior Minister, Brigadier General Mohamed Fahmy, issued an order requiring the closure of bars, cabarets and discos throughout the country until further notice, under penalty of referring offenders to the competent court.

The decision also stipulates the maintenance of the exit and entry prevention schedule to the streets and highways between the first hour after midnight and until six in the morning every day in all regions.

The ministerial order also specifies the number of passengers on public transport, forcing travelers in all regions of the country to wear masks, avoid overcrowding and maintain a safe distance from each other.

The decision provides for the complete closure of more towns and cities in which the coronavirus has spread, for a week, starting at 6 am on Monday.

The text of the decision includes a list of 169 affected areas and towns that are subject to local isolation measures, up from 111 last week.

To date, there have been 52,558 confirmed cases of corona in Lebanon, including 455 deaths, in the context of the deep economic, financial and political crisis in the country, which was exacerbated in light of the devastating explosion that shook the port. from Beirut in August.
