The Beirut Municipality Public Relations Department distributed a statement that the Governor of Beirut, Judge Marwan Abboud, inspected the site damaged as a result of the fuel tank explosion accident, in the Al-Tariq Al-Jadida area, Abu Shaker street, in which he stated that Abboud called on “all institutions to take the maximum preventive measures and ensure the means of protection, such as fire extinguishers in these establishments.
Abboud pointed out, according to the department, “the existence of thousands of warehouses that constitute time bombs within residential neighborhoods, which must be stopped as soon as necessary, in order to preserve the safety of citizens and public safety.” Especially flammable materials like benzene, to preserve their lives, because negligence leads to such results, the consequences of which are regrettable.
Abboud asked the people of Beirut to “ask 175 to report these cases, because it is not possible to continue with things as they are now, because the basis is to protect the citizen,” highlighting the position of the people of Beirut and wishing a speedy recovery of the wounded and mercy for the martyrs.
From Tariq Al Jadidah, Abboud traveled to the Ashrafieh area, where he suffered damage inside and outside a closed restaurant, as a result of the explosion of a gas bottle that caused the death of one person.
