Ramallah | Since the Palestinian Authority announced its suspension of security and civilian coordination with the Israeli enemy, the latter has not missed an opportunity to crack down on the Ramallah security forces, specifically in areas classified as “B” and “” C “according to the” Oslo Agreement “. Even in missions that are considered “criminal” and have nothing to do with the persecution of the resistance (knowing that this prosecution continues as a prerequisite for the survival of the Authority), the Israeli army persecutes the Palestinian security patrols, obstructs the work of its members and brings it to the point of arrest, detention and insult. According to a Palestinian security source who spoke to Al-Akhbar, the enemy has halted all communications with Ramallah after the latter announced the “cessation of coordination”, and since then, the apparatus of authority has been operating outside. from areas “A” in civilian clothes and in vehicles that do not carry government plates (red). Regarding the monitoring of compliance with the closure of Palestinians due to the “Corona” pandemic, the patrols no longer reach towns and cities outside the “A” areas, but depend on their members from those villages or neighboring areas, according to the same source.

However, some Palestinian Authority security officers attempted to move on missions without coordination with the enemy, which resulted in the persecution of security personnel and their detention for a period prior to their release. For example, in the city of Ni’lin, west of Ramallah, in the middle of the occupied West Bank, a force of 12 soldiers set out on the 3rd of this month to arrest a criminal suspect, and upon returning to their headquarters in Ramallah, was surprised by Israeli forces who intercepted it and arrested all its members, in addition to seizing their vehicles. But the most dangerous event took place on the seventh of this month, in the heart of the “A” areas, where an Israeli force, among the “special forces” that the Palestinians call “the Arabists”, traveled in a civilian vehicle. to the Umm Sharayet neighborhood in Al-Bireh, for the sake of making urgent arrest, as is customary in such cases, and then immediately withdrawing. However, the soldier, who was the driver of the vehicle dressed in civilian clothes, was surprised by a stop sign and a checkpoint of a patrol of the “customs police” of the Authority specialized in pursuing smugglers, products without settlement license and assets smuggled into “A” zones. The Israeli “Special Forces” vehicle aroused suspicions from the Palestinian patrol as being commercial and resembling vehicles carrying goods. And when he wanted to search him, six Israeli soldiers rushed out the rear door of the vehicle and raised their weapons, rushing to restrain elements of the authority on the side of the street and confiscate their weapons. Then additional forces from the enemy army arrived at the scene, before the “Arabists” left.

In addition to security restrictions, the enemy puts pressure on the authority in the personal status file.

The incident sparked a wave of anger on social media, while no Palestinian official commented on it, except for Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governor Laila Ghanem, who visited the customs headquarters and praised the security efforts, saying that “The occupation will not dissuade the Palestinian security from its duty, and that the success of the elements The officer, by uncovering the Arabized Special Force in a timely manner, frustrated his mission aimed at the Palestinian people,” noting that that same afternoon, the enemy soldiers intercepted a “National Security” vehicle in the town of Tuqu ‘, south of Belén (south) These events show that despite the cessation (theoretical or practical) of direct contacts between the so-called “military commitment” of both parties, the security of the authority still avoids entering into confrontations with the enemy, and the evidence of this is that no night friction has yet been recorded between the two parties during the implementation of the occupation. action of the arrest campaigns and their assault on cities and towns; At night he enters all regions, even those classified “A”, detains whoever he wants and then leaves. In the morning, the security of the authority spreads through the city centers.
On the other hand, it took a long time to reveal the identities of the Palestinians who were martyred after the “cessation of coordination”, compared to what happened before. The martyr Samir Hamidi (from Beit Lid village, Tulkarm district), for example, informed the Red Cross of his family the day after his martyrdom of what happened to him, while the enemy refused to reveal his identity. to the “civil association” of the Authority, as was the case in such cases. Therefore, Tel Aviv acts on the fact that there is no coordination between it and Ramallah, even though the performance of the authority’s security remains the same, with no fundamental changes in it. Indeed, even in the days of “effective coordination,” the problem regarding Ramallah was not with the Israeli raids themselves, but rather with their execution without prior coordination or from undeclared entrances and locations, and this is specific to zones “A”, which they are supposed to control. And the powers in it are full for the security of the authority, according to an official of the security services.
Israeli pressure on Ramallah is not limited solely to the security aspect. Rather, the enemy is taking advantage of the “cessation of civil coordination” to put pressure on the authority and the people at the same time, as it refuses to recognize any Palestinian documents issued after the announcement of the “cessation of coordination”. Seven cases have been recorded in which Palestinian families were prevented from passing through the “Al Karama crossing” because their children’s birth certificates were recently issued, and the update of their data did not reach the enemy who does not recognize these personal documents without being registered with him. According to official statistics, there are more than 25,000 children born after the “cessation of coordination” last May, and another 24,000 issued new identity cards, while 23,000 received new passports. All these documents are not recognized by the enemy, because the authority has stopped transferring the birth record and updating demographic data to Israel, which “Oslo” forces it to do.
