The president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he will leave, later tonight, the Walter Reed military center, where he is receiving treatment for “Covid-19,” and urged people not to fear this disease.

Despite the wave of coronavirus infections that hit the White House four weeks before the U.S. presidential election, Trump said he is feeling fine and will be leaving the hospital later after being there for three days.

“I leave Great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 pm (local time),” Trump said on Twitter. I feel very good! Don’t be afraid of Covid … Don’t let it dominate your life … We have developed some medicines and great knowledge during the Trump administration … I feel better than 20 years ago.

Doctors at Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, are treating Trump, 74, with dexamethasone, which is generally used only in severe cases.

Trump’s doctor, Sean Conley, said on Monday that Trump’s health status has met or exceeded all criteria for leaving the hospital and that, therefore, he can be discharged even if he has not yet passed the risk stage. of illness.

“During the past twenty-four hours, he met or exceeded all required criteria to leave the hospital,” added Conley, noting that Trump did not have a high temperature for the past 72 hours and that his oxygen levels are normal.

He said: “Although he has not passed the critical stage of his illness, the team and I agree that all the tests and the most important clinical condition support his safe return home, as he will also be surrounded by world-class medical care. for the whole day”.

Even if he is allowed to leave the hospital, Trump will have to continue treatment because he is still in the five-day treatment period with the antiretroviral drug “Remdisever”, and the usual quarantine period for all those who fall ill extends to 14 days.

Trump’s announcement of his COVID-19 diagnosis struck like lightning on Friday, nearly 48 hours after the first presidential debate with his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, highlighting the mystery surrounding the extremely unusual election campaign during the deadly pandemic.
