The news that circulates in the media is inaccurate, and the truth is that the file in which public funds were wasted was discovered by the Director General, Hoda Salloum in 2016, and was referred to the Public Finance Ministry, and then in 2018 to him a second annex on registration fees followed. And with another supplement in 2020. This file is currently under investigation before the Public Finance Ministry.
Subsequently, Judge Aoun put her hand on the file, violating the law and established rules. The Minister of the Interior and Municipalities refused the attendance of the Director General, Hoda Salloum, and five employees to the department of Judge Aoun, and sent a written letter to the Attorney General of Cassation in which he rejected the presence of the Director General and the employees before her because the file is being investigated by the Financial Prosecutor’s Office. Although the Minister of the Interior and Municipalities did not approve her assistance to her department for the investigation, Judge Aoun proceeded to draft investigations and investigation complaints that violate the law against the general director and the five employees, knowing that they did not report accordingly.
This matter is contrary to the simpler legal norms, especially the provisions of the Personnel Law and the Law of Criminal Procedure.
We also point out that the Minister of the Interior and Municipalities sent a letter to the Public Ministry of Cassation requesting that the search and investigation reports be lifted and the decisions prohibiting travel be reinstated, for violating the law, and that they were carried out despite of their disagreement over the presence of Hoda Salloum and the five employees to Judge Aoun’s Department. .
