A helicopter transported the president of the United States, Donald Trump, from the White House to the Walter Reed Military Hospital in the suburb of Bethesda, to recall a scene that was repeated with former presidents of the United States.

It is the second time that Trump has visited “Walter Reed,” having visited him last June to meet with wounded soldiers and medical personnel. He was wearing a mask in public for the first time.

The hospital that receives the presidents was opened for the first time in 1909, and is equipped from the beginning to provide medical care, since it has a private helipad for the president, a special tower with an operating room, an emergency room and high attention, in addition to a meeting and command room equipped with protection devices and communications equipment that allows the president to handle a nuclear war. If I wanted.

Walter Reed is located in an area of 46 hectares in the state of Maryland, adjacent to Washington, DC, and has about 5,500 rooms and about 7,100 employees who work in 100 clinics, in various specialties.

The hospital was previously closed and the new Walter Reed Center opened in mid-September 2011 on the Naval Hospital campus in Bethesda.

A long list compiled the leaders of the United States, within Walter Reed, in a scenario that seemed normal with a number of presidents suffering from health problems, or had to undergo various surgeries, over a period of 87 years.

The beginning was with the election of former US President Franklin Roosevelt, who suffered paralysis in his lower limbs, since the Military Hospital Medical Center offered to provide him with adequate treatment, and in fact the Medical Center nominated the White House to follow up to the President periodically, in addition to assigning the hospital to an internal evaluation and follow-up unit for any situation related to Health Presidents.

Since 1956, more than once, former US President Dwight Eisenhower was admitted to Walter Reed Hospital after an acute heart attack, prompting the hospital to assign a special medical team to treat the president. But Eisenhower died in hospital in 1969.

The body of former US President John F. Kennedy was also autopsied downtown in 1963, after he was assassinated while in a caravan in Dallas, Texas, with his wife Jacqueline.

And former US President Johnson Linden spent a lot of time in the hospital, when he was still a US senator, due to a heart attack, which caused his wife Lady Bird to accompany him inside, throughout the period, especially with his surgery.

And from Walter Reed, Lyndon Johnson ran his election campaign successfully, before John F. Kennedy won and was accepted as vice president in 1969, during a phone call that brought them together inside the hospital.

In July 1973, former US President Richard Nixon Walter Reed entered for several days, after being infected with a pneumonia virus, confronting his illness with tape recorders that proved his participation in the famous “Watergate” spy case.

During Ronald Reagan’s tenure, he underwent two surgeries within Walter Reed, the first in 1985, where he underwent an operation to remove colon polyps.

Two years later, Reagan performed an operation to remove a cancerous prostate tumor, at the age of 76.

And history does not forget that Walter Reed witnessed the death of James Forrestal, the first Secretary of Defense of the United States, after he fell through the window of the sixteenth floor during his hospitalization.

Forrestal wasn’t the only military man he was dealing with inside Walter Reed, but he was preceded by wounded US soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, and other elite US forces, according to “Al-Ain Al-Akhbariya.”
