Trump examines Corona: US president has “mild symptoms”
The White House explained that the president of the United States, Donald Trump, suffers from mild symptoms of Covid 19 disease, after he and his wife Melania tested positive for the Corona virus.
The White House chief of staff said the president was “doing his job” and was “in a good mood,” adding that he expected a speedy recovery.
This comes nearly a month before Trump runs the presidential race against Democratic opponent Joe Biden.
On Friday, it was confirmed that Biden and his wife had not been infected with the virus.
“I hope this is a reminder … wear masks, respect social distancing rules and wash your hands,” Biden wrote on Twitter after the result was announced.
None of Trump’s immediate family members have contracted the virus.
Officials said everyone who has been in contact with the president in recent days is following them.
On Friday, they added, Trump examined how he could address the nation or communicate with the American people.
On Thursday, the couple announced they intend to undergo self-isolation measures after Hope Hicks, a senior Trump aide, tested positive for the virus, and the two soon learned that her results were also positive.
But there was criticism of Trump’s decision to go to the dozens of fundraisers in New Jersey on Thursday, apparently after officials had already learned of Hicks’ symptoms.
Hicks, 31, was with Trump in the First Air Force when he delivered a speech at the first televised presidential hearing with Biden in Ohio on Tuesday. Many members of the Trump family who attended the session did not appear to be convinced.
Trump has often refused to wear a face mask, and often appears to be disobeying the rules of social alienation with his aides or others during official events.
