The Democratic candidate for the US presidential election, Joe Biden, announced that he and his wife, Jill Biden, had undergone a medical examination that revealed that they are free of the emerging corona virus.
Biden said in a tweet posted on his Twitter account on Friday: “I am pleased to announce that I and a generation have tested negative for COVID-19. I appreciate all messages of concern from you.”
Biden added: “I hope this is a reminder of the need to wear masks, to adhere to social distancing and to wash your hands.”
Biden’s doctor, Kevin O’Connor, said in a separate statement that the presidential candidate and his wife “underwent a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test today for COVID-19 and were found to have no the illness”.
Meanwhile, Reuters quoted two informed sources as saying that a medical test also confirmed, on Friday, that Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris and her husband were not infected.
Earlier Friday, US President Donald Trump announced that he and his wife, Melania Trump, had contracted the new Corona virus, while the White House administration confirmed they were suffering from minor symptoms, about a month before 9:00 p.m. presidential elections of November 3.
