Declaration of the “progressive socialist” on the demarcation of the maritime border

The Progressive Socialist Party issued the following statement:

The announcement of the framework agreement aimed at starting negotiations on the demarcation of the maritime borders of southern Lebanon, which means ensuring the right of the Lebanese people to its surface and stored waters and its wealth, and enshrining Lebanese sovereignty, is a step positive and welcomed by all Lebanese and constitutes a title of hope in a time fraught with crisis and blocked horizons. .

With the importance of the negotiation framework in its legal and technical aspects and the need to link the form and content of the negotiations with the national constants, the efforts made by the President of Parliament Nabih Berri are the object of national recognition, with an affirmation of confidence in the Lebanese Army, which will undertake the negotiations because of its desire not to compromise any of Lebanon’s sovereign rights, and because of its experience and competence. And its ability to determine the starting point of the boundary line from the land, respectively, to the points of the sea.

The bet remains that the negotiations reach the desired results as soon as possible, and be constantly on the alert for any Israeli procrastination, and be interested in asking the United Nations and the United States for Israel to halt exploration operations near the disputed area. until the end of the negotiations and hand over the results of the studies to verify the existence of joint oil fields, in a way that later ensures a true beginning for the search and exploration of gas and oil, and investing them in the interest of the people Lebanese with full transparency.

And if negotiations with the enemy Israel, in the context of the objective that has been proposed to it, are permissible and even necessary to strengthen the basic rights of Lebanon and achieve the supreme national interest, then it would be preferable for the spirit of the national interest to withdraw. to other issues that are no less important, in terms of forming a government capable of leading a rescue route and implementing reforms. The required requirements and the main points included in the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron, and the reestablishment of negotiations with the International Monetary Fund to ensure the minimum requirements to avoid the great social and living explosion, before the occurrence of the taboo.

Perhaps it is useful in the context to remind everyone, officially and publicly, of the danger of the Coronavirus and the need to implement preventive and protective measures, emphasize the right of offenders and launch an awareness campaign on the great dangers of recklessness and the great epidemic outbreak.
