Israeli Tourism Minister announces resignation: Israel is on the brink of collapse

Today Friday, Israel’s Tourism Minister Asaf Zamir announced his resignation from the government, due to the current situation in the country, and in protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decisions regarding Corona.

Zamir, who belongs to the Blue and White Party, said: “I am concerned that the state is on the brink of total collapse, and I am clear that this will not change as long as Benjamin Netanyahu remains prime minister.”

“I met Benny Gantz today and told him that I would resign my position as a minister in the government. I can no longer sit in a government run by someone I don’t trust,” Zamir wrote in a Facebook post.

He added: “The Corona pandemic and the public health of citizens are, at best, the second highest priority for the prime minister.”

He continued: “Personal and legal considerations come first for Netanyahu,” referring to Netanyahu’s trial in 3 corruption cases.

He explained: “Netanyahu does not have the ability to save the country from the deep crisis we are in now. He led us to this. He is primarily responsible for medical care and the economic and social crisis that threatens us all.”

Hundreds of Israelis are demonstrating outside the prime minister’s home to protest what they see as “Netanyahu’s misuse of the epidemic to enact restrictions that would help him evade his trials.”
