Open letter to President Macron (and those who applaud him)

Mr. president,

I welcome your personal commitment to the efforts made to find a solution to the Lebanese “problem”. Your words bear witness to that. Let me remind you of a sage’s word: “Problem solving begins with identifying yourself as an element of the problem.”
I share with the majority of Lebanese their condemnation of the ruling class in Lebanon and their condemnation of their criminal behavior in their immodest attachment to their partisan (not even personal) interests at the expense of the vital needs of the people.
Your words teach us nothing we do not know, your anger does not correspond to ours, and your sense of “shame” is less than our abhorrence of the evil people who control the Lebanese state, for their insatiable greed and rampant abuse. who practice with impunity.
However, your speech irritates me, because it deliberately hides your original responsibility for the Lebanese catastrophe (when I say to you or to you, of course, I do not mean you personally, but the French state (now, recently and before) that you represent …
He is focusing his diagnosis of the current crisis on Hezbollah. We in Lebanon are witnesses, victims and complainants of the violations of this party. Like all members of the infamous oligarchy that monopolizes the Lebanese state, he is the perpetrator of all kinds of corruption and responsible for the degeneration of the institutions. The presence of the armed militia “Hezbollah” and its collusion with the “Amal” movement, whose leader confiscates the presidency of Parliament, are circumstantially the main (not the only) obstacle to solving the current crisis. However, the (legitimate) reasons for the existence of Hezbollah and the justifications for its policy (even if they are pretexts) are legitimate and undeniable reasons: the damage of the State of Israel, its flagrant injustice, its continuous expansion, its permanent evasion of conviction. and the successive attacks it has committed against Lebanon since 1948: 1949 1952, 1955, 1959, 1961, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, followed by 22 years of occupation of the south of Lebanon (most of its population was Shiite), 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982 were destroyed The civil infrastructure of the country, 1983, 1984, 1985, etc. Details of these dates can be found in the files published in June 1986 by the Arab Documentation Center. Regarding the supplement, you can consult Amnesty International documents, especially in relation to violations of international law during the 2006 war.

Do you really want to help the Lebanese people? Remove the justification for the existence of Hezbollah!

Mr. president,
I feel “ashamed” of the French state and the international community in the face of the clumsiness of their position in the face of the flagrant injustice committed by the Israeli state, which is colonial, racist, hyper-militarized and based on religious principles (oh, Mr. defender of secularism and Republican values!)! This injustice that is perpetuated, preserved, developed and expanded. At the same time, you must not be friends with Lebanon and Netanyahu. It is not allowed to invoke Hezbollah and at the same time support the barbaric colonization of occupied Palestine, or silent witnesses to it. It must not demand the disarmament of Hizbullah and, at the same time, allow the preservation of the Israeli nuclear arsenal. He should not bemoan the plight of the Lebanese people, and indifference to the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza will put him to rest. The list goes on …
Mr. president,
Do you want to help the Lebanese? I believe that you are sincere (knowing that you have your interests in mind at the same time, and that your interest in us is not a pure act of charity). What did you do to liberate Lebanon from Israeli occupation (1978-2000)? Neither you nor the Lebanese state helped the Lebanese resistance, nor did you succeed in ending this heinous violation of international law. What did it do in 2006 to thwart the massive and flagrant aggression against Lebanon by the Israeli air force and artillery? Only the tremendous solidarity of the Lebanese people towards the Hizbullah fighters failed. What will it do in the future if Lebanon is exposed to further aggression, assuming Hezbollah disarms? Perhaps nothing is tangible, but I know deep down that the Lebanese people will invent their future resistance, similar to the current civil, citizen and non-sectarian rebellion.
Do you really want to help the Lebanese people? You have to deal with the calamity at its source. Remove the justification for the existence of Hezbollah (the Israeli threat). But I know it’s just an unattainable wish. We have taken for granted that our local leaders are corrupt, but today’s world leaders are corrupt, with a qualitative difference: the Western formula is more perverse. The rulers in Lebanon are the mafia that steals and exploits the Lebanese people, but the rulers of the world are only servants of the mafia that extorts the wealth of the planet, especially the people outside its borders. France, like the United States and Russia, as well as Turkey, Iran, and the Arab oil states, will always place their economic interests above the needs of the people competing for their resources.
Sir,
Continue with your policy and persevere. Please continue your discriminatory policies, but please keep your moral lessons for us.
