The US State Department said in a statement that this historic agreement between the two parties was mediated by the United States.
The US State Department added: “This agreement is the result of almost three years of intense diplomatic involvement by Ambassador David Satterfield, former Under Secretary of State for Near East Affairs and current assistant David Schenker.”
He added: “This agreement will allow the start of discussions between the two parties, which will lead to greater stability, security and prosperity for Lebanese and Israeli citizens alike.”
