The Gibran Ghassan Tueni Official Secondary Schools have not yet moved from the building they currently occupy in Ashrafieh to the Salma Al Sayegh Official Primary School building as planned, as the parent committees of the two secondary schools oppose the lack of all the elements of good education and public safety in the new building. In a sit-in yesterday, the two committees called on Education Minister Tariq Al-Majzoub to reverse his decision to evacuate or replace the Salma Al-Sayegh building with a decent building. The new building is “small, narrow, and deserted, and cannot accommodate 450 students who will be moving into it from high schools, lacks hallways and labs, and is located at a dangerous highway intersection,” according to the two committees. of fathers.

The two committees had filed a complaint with the Ministry of Education, explaining the difficulty of moving to a building that is not suitable for education and health, since it smells musty, and it is difficult to apply social distancing to it in the face of the persistent crisis in Corona. It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Education rents the building for 350 million lire annually, and its owners seek to recover it, due to the lack of payment from the Ministry for three consecutive years.
