The “Strong Lebanon Bloc” held its periodic meeting headed electronically by Representative Gebran Bassil, and issued the following statement: “In parallel with the importance of forming a new government to take on the task of the required reform and adhere to the culmination and success of the French initiative, the strong Lebanon bloc paused with great interest in the next legislative session tomorrow, highlighting that the priority is The priorities for tomorrow’s session are the laws related to the reconstruction of Beirut, which are a set of laws incentives, compensatory or protective that were presented by the bloc, and the president of Parliament called to place them in the first plenary session, and they were approved in the joint commissions, and the bloc wants President Berri to initiate these laws. At the beginning of the session, confirm that no national priority overlooks the issue of the port explosion and the serious damage it has caused to the capital and its population.

The bloc considers it a priority to carry out reforms such as the Illicit Enrichment Law and support for affected citizens. It considers that it is not allowed to give priority to the general amnesty law, which is the subject of controversy and contradicts the requirements of national reconciliation, especially since the proposed formula will lead to the release of terrorists who deliberately murdered members of the army and Las forces. Security forces and more than a thousand drug traffickers have caused great misery to citizens, at a time when the country needs more reforms and militancy and no more indolence and laziness.

The bloc’s position on the amnesty law is well known, as it is not covered by the letter and there has not been a serious and sufficient discussion to reach a solution to this issue.

Consequently, the bloc fears that insisting on passing the amnesty law in this way will expose the session and the laws contained in it to the risk of acute division and, unfortunately, will force us to absent ourselves from the session or withdraw from it if we insist on not to resolve the issues of the letter and at the national level.
