The Lebanese opposition forces interacted with the apology of the president in charge of forming the government, Mustafa Adeeb, claiming that this matter deprived Lebanon of an “exceptional opportunity” and that “there are forces that circumvent the French initiative” without worrying about the economic reality that Lebanon lives.
Reuters quoted a source close to French President Emmanuel Macron as saying that Adib’s apology means that political parties in Lebanon committed “collective treason.” The French presidency announced that Macron will hold a press conference today to discuss the Lebanese situation.
And former Prime Minister Saad Hariri said: “Once again, politicians in Lebanon present to their friends in the world a flagrant example of failure in the management of public affairs and the approach to the national interest,” adding, in a statement, that “the Lebanese put the apology of the president-designate for continuing to form the government in the box. The saboteurs who no longer need to be named and who have revealed themselves at home and abroad, and to all the brothers and friends who they came to the rescue of Lebanon after the disaster in Beirut.
Hariri addressed “those who today applaud the fall of the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron”, saying that “they will bite their fingers in regret for the loss of one of the most noble friends, and for an exceptional opportunity that will be difficult to achieve. repeat to stop the economic collapse and put the country on the path of the required reform. ” On the other hand, Hariri believed that Macron’s initiative did not fail, “because what has fallen is the approach that leads Lebanon and the Lebanese to ruin, and the methods of accusing and blaming others will not be useful after that,” and to place an important Lebanese component in front of all the other components. ” Hariri said that he “made a concession for the good of Lebanon and opened a hole in the impasse, to avoid falling into the unknown and responsible investment of the French initiative.” However, “the insistence on holding Lebanon hostage to foreign agendas has turned into something that goes beyond the energy to turn corners and make sacrifices.”
Hariri greeted President Macron “who made unprecedented efforts to gather leaders with the same word.” He also paid tribute to Adeeb “who assumed his responsibilities with all merit and committed himself to the limits of the constitution and the national interest until the last moment.”
Former Prime Ministers Naguib Mikati, Fouad Siniora and Tamam Salam considered that with Adeeb’s assignment to form the new government, “the opportunity arose to save Lebanon by forming a government that would begin to work to restore confidence and stop the economic collapse, financial and monetary that is taking place ”. However, there are those who have avoided this opportunity.
Whereas previous heads of government saw that the participants in the consultations held by President Macron, as well as the consultations that took place after them, showed “ a total willingness to cooperate and facilitate to achieve that rescue effort in a period of two weeks, and therefore the effort of the designated president to accelerate the formation of a miniature rescue government of unaffiliated political parties, and on the basis of respecting the principle of rotation in all portfolios ”, they considered that this “Effort collided with all kinds of internal and external obstructions.”
And they considered that it had become clear that “the parties that control power are still in a state of severe denial and refusal to realize the magnitude of the terrible dangers that Lebanon has become. Consequently, he refrained from facilitating the task and efforts of the appointed president, which resulted in his failure, highlighting that they supported Adeeb in his “apology for continuing with his mission that was overthrown”, his concern for national unity and his reluctance ” to help find a way out of this dangerous crisis. “
For his part, the head of the Lebanese Forces party, Samir Geagea, assured that Adib’s apology “confirms the truth that a rescue cannot be thought of except with a truly independent government”, and that “to appoint the ministers by the parties The current ruling group has proven its failure and has led the country to what led to it. ” ».
Geagea said, in a statement, that “it is not possible to think of any government as of now, except on the basis of the reasons for which Adeeb apologized,” considering that Adeeb “is the first Lebanese official to resign when he cannot. translate their convictions “.
In turn, the head of the Kataeb Party, Sami Gemayel, believed that “there is no salvation in the existence of this destructive system that surrenders to the will of (Hezbollah) and its weapons.” He called on all MPs to make a courageous decision and resign from parliament, so that the Lebanese people can restore the decision and save their future.
