Protesters cut the streets of Abdel Hamid Karami-Al-Nur Square in the northern city of Tripoli, in solidarity with Lebanese President-designate Mustafa Adeeb, protesting the obstruction of his efforts to form a government and shouting slogans. denouncing corruption and the rise in the dollar exchange rate, demanding that Adeeb withdraw his apology to “save Lebanon from collapse.

A similar move was also recorded in Sidon, in the south, where the Lebanese “National News Agency” reported that Shabaya blocked the road with burning tires at the Elia – Sidon roundabout in various directions, protesting the economic situation and the increase in the dollar exchange rate.

Since Adeeb announced his apology, the Lebanese pound has fallen dramatically against the US dollar, reaching around 10,000 pounds, after stabilizing in recent weeks on the black market at 7,500 pounds against the dollar.

Adeeb announced earlier on Saturday his apology for forming the new government, in a move that would return the country to zero point.

Adeeb said at a press conference that the consensus on which he accepted the task of forming the Lebanese government no longer exists, referring to the adherence of the Shiite duo to appoint the Finance Minister and the Shiite ministers, in contradiction to the French initiative. .

He added: “I have informed all the Lebanese political blocs that I am not going to suggest names that constitute a provocation to any party, regardless of their effectiveness.”

He noted that French President Emmanuel Macron’s initiative to support Lebanon expresses sincere intention and must continue.
