The Lebanese Presidency confirmed in a statement that Aoun accepted the letter of apology presented by Adeeb and wished him success and thanked him for the efforts made, noting that the meeting between them, which was held today in the Baabda Palace, addressed the difficulties in the government formation process based on the French initiative.
The statement continued: “President Aoun considered that this initiative launched by French President Emmanuel Macron during his visit to Lebanon on the first of this month continues and received all the support from him, according to the foundations announced by the French president.”

For his part, President Berri, in a statement issued by his media office, expressed the firm commitment of Lebanese parliamentarians to Macron’s initiative, saying: “Nobody subscribes to the French initiative as much as we adhere to it, but there are those who drowned it in contradiction with all established principles. “
The Media Office of the President of Parliament, Mr. Nabih Berri, issued the following: No one subscribes to the French initiative as much as we adhere to it …

He continued: “The French initiative is the spirit and essence of the reforms, and the government is the machine that must implement these reforms after they are approved. I think that all the blocs with these reforms and the parliament are more motivated to approve what it must be done, and we are in our position to adhere to the French initiative in accordance with its content.
Lahiri: What fell is not Macron’s initiative, but the approach that leads Lebanon to ruin
For his part, former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri saw in a courteous apology for forming the government, “a flagrant example of the failure of politicians to manage public affairs and move closer to the national interest”, warning of the danger of the collapse of Macron’s initiative.
In a statement issued by Hariri, he addressed those who “applaud today for the fall of Macron’s initiative”, saying: “They will bite their fingers in regret for the loss of one of the most noble friends and for the wasted opportunity exceptional that will be difficult to repeat to stop the economic collapse and put the country on the path of the required reform. “
The former prime minister stressed that “Macron’s initiative has not failed because what has fallen is the approach that leads Lebanon and the Lebanese to ruin”, praising that “Adeeb has fully assumed its responsibilities and has committed to the limits of the constitution and the national interest until the last moment “.
Macron’s initiative aims to lift Lebanon out of the political and social crisis it entered after the devastating explosion that rocked the port of Beirut last August.
