At the same time, relatives of the prisoners closed the Dahr al-Baidar road in both directions, demanding the rapid passage of the general amnesty and the improvement of the conditions of their children in the face of the spread of the Corona virus in prisons, and raised banners denouncing the continuous delay in the approval of the amnesty, and another requested “the conclusion of a session to approve the general amnesty quickly.”

At the end of the sit-in, the road was reopened and the people continued their movement and moved to the entrance of the Zahle Men’s Prison, and they held a new sit-in in which they demanded to speed up the approval of the amnesty and improve the conditions of prisoners, faced with the spread of the Corona epidemic, and compassion for people with chronic diseases such as cancer and others.

While the inmates of the Zahleh Men’s Prison held a peaceful protest inside the prison yard, in which they demanded that the officials “in the name of the country and in the name of humanity and mercy, look with compassion on our situation and our miserable condition, after the Corona epidemic killed and threatened us and left us without medicine, without the capacity for treatment or trial, or anything related to justice ”.

One of the prisoners gave a speech in which he demanded on behalf of all the inmates “the three chiefs look at their condition after the number of people affected by the epidemic reached 250 cases”, and said: “Our families will continue our move and they will not silence the injustice that has befallen us. It is true that we have committed mistakes and crimes, but the sin of those responsible is greater. Because they kill us in cold blood ”.

After the sit-in, the inmates refused to enter their cells due to the fulfillment of the demands they presented during the peaceful break in the prison yard, including the prompt issuance of the amnesty law and the taking of the appropriate measures to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus within the prison, amid the spread of internal security forces in charge of protecting the prison.
