The Beirut Marathon Association is organizing a “virtual race” to run locally and abroad for a distance of 5 km during the period from October 1 to 8, 2020, in order to support the Lebanese Red Cross Society, in recognition of its role and efforts in the field of relief work for the victims and injured of the terrible and devastating explosion in the port of Beirut.

Beirut Marathon Association race director Wissam Tru revealed that this event is the first of its kind by the association and its organization came after extensive contacts with many of the race organizing committees in the world. and with the International Athletics Federation who showed a response to the idea and sympathy with the Lebanese people. Agreement on all the logistical and technical arrangements of the race, as well as with the company “Haku” in Florida, USA, which operates as a platform through its website to provide registration services to foreign runners who wish to participate.
The registration fee for foreign participants is set at $ 30, as these fees go fully and directly to the Lebanese Red Cross account, while runners and brokers within Lebanon participate for free and can do so if they want to donate. also directly through the Lebanese Red Cross account.
Tru noted that all participants, both external and local, can run the race distance for once during the time period specified above and record their time for the final technical arrangement of the race, noting that there are no financial prizes or in kind for the top finishers.
He called for the broadest local participation in the race of the runners and runners of Lebanon, as well as their families and friends, as an expression of solidarity and sympathy with the families of the victims and the injured, and in gratitude for the donations of the Cross. Lebanese Red.
