The “Reuters” news agency quoted a security source as saying that an explosion took place at an arms depot belonging to “Hezbollah” in the village of Ain Qana in southern Lebanon today (Tuesday), stating that the cause of the explosion was “a technical error”.

Columns of smoke rose from a fire in the southern Lebanese village of Ain Qana, following a large explosion that reverberated in the Nabatiyeh and Iqlim al-Tuffah regions, according to the National Information Agency.

A security source told Reuters that the party had imposed a security cordon at the scene of the blast. Earlier, security sources said the explosion caused injuries.

A neighbor of the town of Ain told the French press: “It is a center of the party in the form of a house”, indicating that party members imposed a security cordon in the place where the ambulances rushed. “The town completely shook us,” he said, noting that the surrounding buildings were damaged.

The villagers indicated that they had been injured by ambulances, while the official National Information Agency reported that the damage was limited to “breaking some houses and breaking glass.”

So far, there have been no official comments from Hezbollah.

The explosion occurred around 3 pm (12:00 GMT) and clouds of black smoke covered the sky and the surrounding area. Citizens shared videos on social media showing clouds of smoke. Local media also published photos showing a charred area near the buildings outside the town.

The official agency reported that the explosion occurred in conjunction with “an intense flight of hostile combat aircraft and espionage, which did not leave the airspace of the Nabatiyeh and Iqlim al-Tuffah regions since the morning.”

There were no immediate comments from Israel. The Lebanese have yet to overcome the aftermath of the horrific explosion in the port of Beirut on August 4, which killed more than 190 people and injured more than 6,500.
