The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following:
The statistics showed a significant and dangerous increase during the last month of this year, in the number of complaints of sexual blackmail received – exclusively – through the social networks of the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division, and via the “Report” service on your website:
– / 47 / Complaint during the month of July.
– / 96 / Complaints during the month of August.
Registering an increase of 104.25%.
The number of detainees for these crimes, from the beginning of this year to date, has reached / 133 /.
Consequently, this General Directorate recalls its repeated request to the honorable citizens not to photograph or photograph themselves improperly on video under any circumstances, nor accept invitations from strangers or accounts, so that they are not victims and exploited by others.
It also requests not to submit to the requests of the blackmailers and to immediately report these cases through its Facebook page (lebsif), or through the (Report) service on its website (http://isf.gov.lb/en/ report) or send a Complaint to the competent Public Ministry.
