A full shutdown won’t work … and to avoid events and parties

For the first time in the spread of the Corona epidemic in Lebanon, the number of Corona wounded exceeded a thousand.

The specialist in bacterial diseases, Professor Jacques Makhbat, said in his speech to Al-Nahar that we are heading towards a strong and catastrophic scenario because the injuries are very high, given the reluctance of the citizen not to adhere to the recommendations and preventive measures.

He pointed out that people did not recognize the importance of the procedures and guidelines and adhered to them, a sufficient and responsible reason to take us to this difficult and dangerous stage.

Regarding the general closure, Makhbat stressed that “we are not about to punish people for not being committed, but it is important that people understand that there are people dying as a result of the virus, and when people believe and feel the fear of death they they will give an account of the reality of the seriousness of the situation, and thus they will be more careful and attentive in their way of dealing with the virus. And be careful with it through protection and prevention measures.

Makhbat also saw that emphasis should be placed on preventing the reactivation of events and parties, closing nightclubs (because we know it is one of the places that expose a person to danger) and isolating areas, buildings, factories and institutions that witness a number of injuries, which are more beneficial than the total closure decision that will not produce the desired results. Rather, those who benefit financially are the most affected, and most importantly, it will not be implemented because there is a segment of people who will not abide by the closure decision.

He noted that “the basic rule remains the Lebanese commitment to preventive measures that protect the individual and others. We have to live with the virus until a vaccine or effective treatment is found.”
