The Minister of Health, Hamad Hassan, announced his refusal to continue the situation as it is, considering that the registered figures do not allow for more recklessness and complacency, for which he called for a total closure of the country for a period of two weeks within a state of emergency that must be in accordance with strict measures, with the aim of restoring the control capacity of the matter. In his statement to Al-Nahar, he highlighted his call for a full shutdown, provided the decision is issued tomorrow after the Crown Committee meeting.

Regarding the number of Corona exams that are currently being carried out, and if they are enough to determine the true size of the epidemic in the country, he confirmed that the number of examinations that were carried out exceeded 12,400 examinations, so the number of exams became high and indicates that the percentage of local infections reached 8 percent.

As for the call for a total closure, the details of which are supposed to be issued tomorrow after the meeting, is given based on the high number of injuries and also the death toll, he said. Furthermore, hospitals can barely accommodate more patients once they have reached their capacity limits.

Regarding the scope of the expected commitment in the event of the closure decision, given that last month’s experience had shown its failure due to the fact that several regions and their individuals were not subject to the law, he made it clear that the Ministry of Health must raise the recommendation, while enforcing compliance with the measures and respecting the decisions is the responsibility of the security forces and municipalities.
