The crimes of the Iranian regime are repeating themselves. In a new crime, an Iranian court handed down a sentence to amputate the fingers of several young people for allegedly committing theft.
Within days of the execution of the death penalty against the Iranian fighter Naveed Afkari, all eyes will turn to Iran, where three young men convicted of robbery can be separated.
The Sun newspaper, citing Britain-based Iran International Farsi TV, reported that the teenagers, identified as Hadi Rostami, Mehdi Charfian and Mahdi Shahevand, had been ordered to amputate four fingers from their right hands.
The trio lost an appeal this week to overturn the “scandalous verdict,” according to the newspaper.
According to the country’s penal code, “first-time” theft is punishable by cutting off up to four fingers.
However, in most cases, instead, prison sentences are imposed for theft, with the most severe penalties generally imposed only on adults.
Flogging and stoning are also legal forms of punishment in Iran.
Legal analyst Narges Tafalossian told The Sun newspaper that “amputation as a form of punishment is rare in Iran.”
For this type of punishment, there are 13 rules that a judge must all apply to order an amputation.
The teens were convicted of robbery in the northeastern region of Urmia in November.
Authorities did not release further details on the nature of his crimes and it was not immediately clear when the verdict would be implemented.
