Former heads of government held a meeting last night at the Central House, the home of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, during which they highlighted that “the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron constitutes an important opportunity that should be invested in accelerating the formation of the government, to keep Lebanon away from collapse, sedition and the evils that surround it. “
The meeting found that France, whose president sensed the magnitude of the dangers Lebanon faces, took the initiative to provide support and assistance and launch an integrated political initiative for a solution that resulted in the commission, Mustafa Adib, to form a government according to a specific mandate in form and content, and must work to make it successful.
The heads of the four governments, Saad Hariri, Najib Mikati, Fouad Siniora and Tamam Salam, urged the president-designate “to adhere to his full powers to form a government as soon as possible, in consultation with His Excellency the President, and under the ceiling of the rules stipulated in the constitution “.
The French Foreign Ministry had asked the Lebanese political forces to “assume their responsibilities” and form a new government headed by Mustafa Adib “without delay”.
