The French Foreign Ministry asked the Lebanese political forces to assume their responsibilities and form a government immediately under the auspices of Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Adib.
“At a time when Lebanon is facing an unprecedented crisis, France regrets the failure of Lebanese politicians to deliver on the promises they made on September 1, according to the announced deadline,” said the spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon. A spokeswoman for the French Foreign Ministry had told reporters on Friday that “there is no evidence to indicate that the armed wing of the Lebanese Hezbollah is storing chemical materials in France to make explosives, as far as we know. Nothing tangible confirms such a claim in France. today”.
This came as a comment on the statements of the US State Department’s counter-terrorism coordinator, Nathan Sells, who had previously stated that “Hezbollah is smuggling and stockpiling chemical materials, including ammonium nitrate that exploded in the port of Beirut, from Belgium to France, Greece, Italy, Spain and Switzerland. ” He claimed that Hezbollah had “established caches for explosives in Europe since 2012.”
