The US State Department accused the Lebanese “Hezbollah” of stockpiling explosive materials that could be used to make explosive devices in Europe, including ammonium nitrate, causing the Beirut port to explode.
The ministry’s counterterrorism coordinator, Nathan Sales, said during a hypothetical forum organized by the American Jewish Committee on Thursday that in recent years Hezbollah agents have transported shipments of ammonium nitrate from Belgium to France, Greece, Italy, Spain and Switzerland, and it is assumed that this substance is still stored in the old continent.
The US official detained “Hezbollah”, without providing any proof that proves the validity of this accusation, which is responsible for transporting shipments of ammonium nitrate to various parts of Europe since 2012, inside first aid kits containing cold compresses that contain this substance.
Sales indicated that the United States suspects that this substance is still stored in European countries such as Greece, Italy and Spain.
The US diplomat expressed his conviction that “Hezbollah is storing this material in Europe with the aim of carrying out major attacks, when he and his colleagues in Tehran see it necessary.”
Sales urged European countries to fully include “Hezbollah” on the terrorist list, emphasizing that this party represents “a unified terrorist organization whose military and political weapons cannot be differentiated.”
