Pompeo said in a tweet on Twitter that he would visit Suriname, Guyana, Brazil and Colombia “to celebrate and fight for democracy.”

He added that the US secretary will meet in the capital, Paramaribo, with President Chandrikaberasad Santokhi, who was nominated by the opposition and elected by Parliament as President of the Republic in July.
In Georgetown, the capital of Guyana, Pompeo will meet with the new president, Irfan Ali, to “congratulate” him on his election.
In Brazil, Pompeo will visit Boa Vista in the border state of Roraima with Venezuela “to emphasize the importance of US and Brazilian support for Venezuelans,” in a visit during which he will meet with Venezuelan immigrants who “fled the disaster” in their country. , according to the US diplomatic statement.
The Secretary of the United States will conclude his tour in Bogotá, where he will hold talks with Colombian President Evan Duque on ways to address the Covid-19 pandemic, one of the main topics of this tour, in addition to several other files.
