Hurricane Sally moved toward the US Gulf Coast on Tuesday, threatening catastrophic torrents and continued rainfall, as it began to hit the beach, while rulers of four states called on residents to flee the coast.
The US National Hurricane Center said Hurricane Sally could sweep off the coasts of Alabama, Florida and Mississippi on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, and could cause massive torrential torrents.
Sally remembers Hurricane Harvey in 2017, which brought days of rain to the Houston area, causing massive damage.
The center predicted more than two feet of rain in some areas, as well as severe and life-threatening torrents on Wednesday.

Chuck Watson of the Enki Foundation, a research institute that tracks tropical storms, expects Sally’s damage to be between 2 billion and $ 3 billion.
Watson said this could increase if the heaviest rains occur on land rather than in the Gulf. Rulers from Louisiana to Florida asked residents to leave the Lowlands.
President Donald Trump declared emergencies in Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana to help coordinate disaster relief.
Ports, schools and businesses are closed along the coast. The United States Coast Guard restricted travel up the Mississippi River from New Orleans to the Gulf.
