Israeli media said US President Donald Trump is expected to announce a historic normalization agreement between Bahrain and Israel on Friday, following a similar agreement signed by the United Arab Emirates last month.

The Jerusalem Post quoted a source as saying that Bahrain’s Crown Prince Salman Hamad Al Khalifa will be in the US capital Washington before the signing of the peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday at the White House. .

The Times of Israel reported that Trump would announce the agreement between Israel and Bahrain at 1 p.m. EST.

He added that it is not known whether Bahrain will sign the same “Abrahamic Agreement” that the UAE entered into with Israel.

Earlier, Israeli radio Makan said that Bahrain had agreed to implement relations with Israel, without elaborating.

On Thursday, Trump hinted that another potential country could sign a normalization agreement with Israel, without revealing further details.

Trump said: “Next week at the White House, there will be a signature between the UAE and Israel, and we can have another country on top of that. I’ll tell you countries are lining up and want to get into the matter.”

In a statement, Bahrain had expressed its “deep congratulations” to the Emirates for this “historic step”, which “will contribute to strengthening stability and peace in the region.”

The UAE is the first Gulf state to fully normalize relations with Israel, in a “historic” move that came in the wake of signs of rapprochement in recent years, including hosting Israeli sports teams and allowing ministers to speak at conferences and tour the rich country for tourism purposes.
