The activists of the Zero Jackets movement return to the streets tomorrow Saturday, to start a series of movements and demonstrations in Paris and other French cities, after a hiatus during the summer.
Almost two years after the birth of this protest movement, rallies were announced in the provinces of Marseille, Toulouse, Lyon, Lille, Nantes, Nice, Bordeaux and Strasbourg, in addition to the capital.
Protesters from the Paris region were called to gather on the Champs-Elysées, the squares of La Bourse, Gramm and Saint-Pierre, at the foot of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre.
The Paris police chief, Didier Lallmann, prohibited “any gathering of people who claim to be part of the” zero jackets “movement, given the risk of disturbing public order” in various parts of the capital from 6:00 p.m. to Saturday (16:00 GMT).
The police prevented two demonstrations that were to pass through the Champs Elysees.
Police expect “a meeting of 4-5 thousand protesters in Paris, including a thousand people who are likely to be violent,” to withdraw a statement.
In total, 2,300 people indicated that they intend to participate in the march through the Champs-Elysées, and 7,000 expressed interest in it, according to what is circulating on Facebook.
The “Zero Jackets” movement is looking for a fresh start after the first year, which was marked by violent demonstrations that saw buildings and shops set on fire.
