Aoun continued: “Today’s work should focus on studying effective measures to ensure that what happened is not repeated, and requested the formation of a committee headed by the Minister of Works that includes representatives of the security services and the port company to establish a new organization for work in the port and guaranteeing public safety in it “.
Acting Prime Minister Hassan Diab said at the beginning of the meeting: What happened in the port, and whatever its causes, is a new stab for all Lebanese and a great contempt and insult to the state and society. The investigation must be expedited to determine responsibilities. There must be clear answers to people’s questions>
In a related context, the Acting Minister of Works and Transport, Michel Najjar, said that “the initial information indicates that one of them was carrying out a repair workshop using a missile, which caused a spark and the outbreak of the fire.”
