The French television channel France 2 announced the organization of a special evening in support of Lebanon, whose capital was rocked by a terrible explosion in early August, with live broadcasts from Paris and Beirut on October 1.
The government station said in a statement that all television and digital stations affiliated with “France TV” will participate “during the course of the first day of October in providing assistance to the Lebanese people.”
The initiative was called “United for Lebanon”, and several television programs will participate in it, culminating in a special evening live on “France 2”, in collaboration with the state radio “France Inter”.
The evening begins with a televised investigation into the Beirut port explosion disaster on August 4 and will be completed with a “grand concert in support and promotion of donations”, broadcast directly from the “Olympia” theater in Paris.
The artistic direction of this evening was entrusted to the French trumpeter of Lebanese origin Ibrahim Maalouf, and “will bring together a series of French, Lebanese and international artists to express the feelings of brotherhood with the Lebanese people.”
Among the participating artists, in addition to the British singer Sting and the British of Lebanese descent, Mika, are the French singers Viani, Florent Bagni, Clara Luciani, Pascal Obispo, Patrick Broil, Bernard Lavillier, Yannick Noah, the French singers of Lebanese origin Ikar and Matteo Chedid, and the Lebanese Hiba Togiot and the American Melody Gardid.
Regarding the charitable aspect, “France TV” and “Radio France” will collaborate with the French Red Cross, which “will deliver all the donations that are collected to the Lebanese Red Cross,” according to the statement.
