The head of the Marada Movement, Suleiman Franjieh, commented in an interview with the Al-Jumhuriya newspaper about the sanctions imposed by the United States on Minister Youssef Fenianos.

In response to a question on whether the sanctions will push the “Marada” movement to review its accounts, Franjieh said: “Our conviction in the resistance and in allying with it is a solid conviction in which nothing changes. Rather, this pressure on we increase our adherence to our position and we will not back down. ” “If the objective of the sanctions is to keep us away from the resistance to tighten the screws, then this policy will not achieve its purpose, but will lead to the opposite effect.”

He added: “As long as the Americans punish us with the charge that we are helping the resistance politically, this is not ashamed and” we are not ashamed “of our political support for the resistance, but rather we are proud of this firm position.”

Franjieh added: “The US sanctions against Fenians imply a direct political attack and, in my opinion, they made the decision on the sanctions and then looked for reasons to justify them.”

Franjieh noted that the pretexts on which the US decision was based are feeble and weak, and asked: Contractors have cooperated with the Ministry of Works for decades, so why is Washington now aware of them?

He added: “It is natural that most of the contractors in the south and Baalbek-Hermel are supporters or belong to Hezbollah and the Amal movement and therefore assigning them to projects does not constitute support for the party itself, knowing that we, as I emphasized, are not ashamed of our position in politics and strategic options on the side of the resistance. ” .

Franjieh stated that “the corruption allegations included in the US decision are nothing more than a prosaic cover with clear political content and an attempt to camouflage the fact that the sanctions were issued against Vinianus because of his political affiliation in the first place.”
