The head of the “Marada” movement, former deputy Suleiman Franjieh, confirmed in a press interview that “as long as the Americans punish us with the accusation that we are helping the resistance politically, this is an issue that does not embarrass us, and we are not “Our political support for the resistance is ashamed, but we are proud of this firm position.”

Franjieh considered that “the US sanctions against former minister Youssef Fenianos imply a direct political attack, and in my opinion, they made the decision to sanction and then began to look for reasons to justify it.”

Franjieh noted that “the pretexts on which the US decision was based are flimsy and weak,” explaining that “contractors have cooperated with the Ministry of Public Works for decades, so why has Washington realized them now? ? ” He noted that “there are political affiliations or tendencies for most of the contractors in Lebanon due to de facto internal acquaintance, and Minister Fenianus forced projects according to tenders to human contractors who have the color of” my forces “, and others from the mountain They have the color of “socialism”, in addition to giving recommendations to those close to The Movement of the Future, and the people of Aounism, they have implemented projects in Christian areas.

He added: “In the same context, it is natural that the majority of contractors in the south and Baalbek-Hermel support or belong to Hezbollah and the Amal movement and therefore entrusting them with projects does not constitute support for the party itself. And As I emphasized, we are not ashamed of our position on the political and strategic options on the side of the resistance. ” He stressed that “the allegations of corruption included in the US decision are nothing more than a prosaic cover with clear political content and an attempt to camouflage the fact that sanctions were issued against Fenians for their political affiliation in the first place.”

On the US accusation to Fenianos of having leaked information related to the International Tribunal to “Hezbollah”, Franjieh pointed out that “Fenianus was the lawyer of one of the four officers and, therefore, in the framework of the defense of his client, you have the right to see documents or pursue a gap in the record. ” . Franjieh asked: “Does Hezbollah really need Fenianus to obtain information related to the International Tribunal? This is Tafnisa.”

Franjieh stated that “our conviction in the resistance and in its alliance with it is a solid conviction in which nothing changes. Rather, this pressure on us increases our adherence to our position, and we will not back down”, noting that “if the goal one of the sanctions is to stay away from the resistance to tighten the screws, then this policy will not achieve its purpose, but will lead to the opposite effect. “

On the effects of the sanctions that will lead to the closure of the bank accounts of Fanyanos, and perhaps also of those close to him, he said: “Why do we continue to have bank accounts in the first place after the financial collapse that occurred … the Americans have arrived late. “

As for whether the new US sanctions will affect the French initiative and the attempt to form a government, Franjieh ruled out such influence, but noted that he looks at the plate from afar, and “when they ask us, we give our opinion,” explaining, “Our input in government or not depends on the nature of its composition. “
