The Minister of Education and Higher Education, Tariq Al-Majzoub, responded to Representative Asaad Dargham, who criticized the minister’s decision to assign the head of the Office of Educational Equipment and Aid, Mr. George Nohra, to the functions of managing a facility public, the Educational Center for Research and Development. Minister Al-Majzoub refuted every paragraph of Deputy Dergham’s statement, explaining the background to his decision and his enthusiasm for ensuring the public interest. Al-Majzoub said in his reply:

As usual, after each decision I make, the orchestra itself sets out to compose, direct and release films full of fallacies to deceive public opinion for narrow interests and not for educational purposes.6 Sometimes we hide behind politics and a phase behind the sect, and in fact we respect neither clean politics nor the sect.

But what caught our attention this time is what Representative Al-Sadiq Asaad Dargham wrote, for whom I have the utmost respect. “The member of the” Strong Lebanon “bloc, Representative Asaad Dergham, denounced the decision of the Minister of Education in the interim government, Tareq Al-Majzoub, to appoint George Elias Nohra as head of the Educational Center for Research and Development to succeed him . Dr. Nada Oweijan, stating that the appointment decision is contrary to the constitution for two reasons:

First: Regarding the appointment of an employee to a third category of technical and professional education in this center, noting that the law requires that the vacant position be the holder of a doctorate, then where is the educational interest, Excellence?

Regarding this paragraph, the minister pointed out that, “His Excellency Deputy Al-Siddiq was absent from the fact that in the case of a temporary vacancy in a particular center, he would generally assign an employee of the category that corresponds to the category of the owner of the center or category that comes directly after him. One of the office heads was assigned without observing the sect or the terms of appointment, so due to the temporary vacancy caused by political interference, the details of which we will explain below, it is natural for the minister to appoint one of the office heads in the educational center. The centers of this category are busy with assignments, so we had to choose a competent employee to fill the functions of an office manager, and this is what happened. Why didn’t the deputy move when Dr. Oweijan was assigning a non-sectarian person the functions of running the office until now?

Second: The decision hits again the letter that guarantees the Lebanese constitution, because this position, according to the sectarian distribution of the first-rate centers in the country, has been vacant for years by the Orthodox community, so why violate the pact?
In his response to this paragraph by Deputy Dergham, Minister Al-Majzoub indicated that “the minister is very interested in all the sects of Lebanon and has all the respect for all the sects. In his opinion, the respect for the sects lies in not be exploited in our narrow interests. The minister was assigned to run the center, first of all, a doctor from the honorable Orthodox community, but his joy at the time denounced this appointment and he was surprised that the doctor we chose was from the same But the fault of the doctor we assigned to her was that she did not have a party affiliation to defend her, so the world stood up and did not sit down. Assigning an interim teacher until the presidency of the educational center is handed over to whoever we find is what better to assume the presidency ”.

Dergham also said in his statement: “We will no longer accept intolerance, injustice and prejudice to the rights of the Orthodox community of any party that comes today.”

In response to this paragraph, Minister Al-Majzoub explained: “The sects become disadvantaged when the centers are restricted to those affiliated to this or that party or who have a close relationship with a particular official.

Dergham added: “We asked the minister to go back to the mistake, and he, in the decision issued yesterday in Article Two of the same, canceled the previous decision, and this is a clear admission of the mistake he made, but he came back and addressed the mistake with a more serious and serious mistake. That is why we called the head of the interim government, Hassan Diab. ” Intervene immediately because issues crossed red lines and more improvised decisions can no longer be tolerated. “

Minister Majzoub responded to this paragraph: “If we wanted impromptu decisions as described by His Excellency the Representative, upon our arrival, we would have returned the post of Director General of Higher Education to the honorable Sunni sect to which I belong and of which I am proud. , because the currently assigned director is not from the Sunni community, but we choose to wait and study the files to choose the best, and we do not act with sectarian or malicious behavior, and the director general of higher education is still Maronite, as assigned by the former Minister of Education and Higher Education.

It is time not to take advantage of the sects when we want. And the least of it, if you want to respect the Charter, let it be by choosing the most competent of each sect. On the other hand, where is the marital status you are claiming? Or you tend where passions tend.

Doesn’t the orthodox head in charge of the center want that she has all the conditions to assume her functions, while the former director of the center was not even on the university staff when she was assigned? You also don’t want to assign one of the office heads to assume the presidency of the school until the political issues are resolved, so what do you want? “
