Canadian women’s soccer midfielder Rebecca Quinn has been out in public, revealing that she is transgender in a post on her Instagram.
The 25-year-old, who won the Canadian women’s team bronze in soccer competition at the 2016 Rio Olympics and participated with her country in the 2019 Women’s World Cup, said her goal is to reveal her sexual transformation to help people like her feel safe on social media.
“Since I lived as an openly transgender person for many years with the people I love so much, I always wondered when I would go out in public,” Quinn, who defends All Ryan’s colors in the NFL, said to reveal his sexuality.
“I wanted gay people who don’t see people like them on the event tape (on social media),” added the Canadian, who currently plays for Swedish Vitzio on loan. “I know this saved my life years ago.”
