On Sunday, the German Foreign Minister accused US President Donald Trump of trying to question the upcoming US elections when he suggested that his supporters vote twice.
“We owe an enormous amount of things to the United States, and it continues to be one of our closest partners,” Heiko Maas told the Sunday edition of the German daily Bild, who remains one of our closest partners. But yes, it is worrying that the American president thinks he needs such a thing.
He added: “I have confidence in the conscience of the Americans and their perception of thwarting this attempt that lacks a deterrent to question the credibility of the elections and therefore most likely will not accept a possible defeat.”

The voting mechanism has become a hot topic in an increasingly divisive political landscape.
During his four-year campaign for a second term, Trump planted the seeds of doubt among his base over the legitimacy of an election involving a large number of mail-in ballots.
Trump himself, who votes by mail in the state of Florida in which he is registered, has repeatedly said, without providing proof, that a vote by mail could lead to massive fraud.
He even suggested that his followers test the poll twice to test the mechanism.
His proposals drew angry responses in the United States, where voting twice in an election is illegal.
