In a statement today, the head of the Farmers and Peasants Association, Ibrahim al-Tarshishi, asked the official Lebanese side to work hard and summon the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in Beirut from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and ask him about the real reasons to close the Jordanian crossing of Jaber in front of the Lebanese agricultural convoys, since it is the fifth time that it is withdrawn at the crossing on the Jordanian side. Jaber expressed his promises to open this crossing to Lebanese agricultural convoys, which this morning number nearly 60 stopped trucks loaded with tens of tons of Lebanese agricultural products.

He said: “This crossing is the vital economic artery for all land export sectors, and closing it means the destruction of the agricultural sector, and the continued evasion and reluctance of the Jordanian side is classified as a blow to all trade treaties and agreements. and economic regulations that regulate land export work “.

He noted that “agricultural exporters have suffered for a month from the catastrophe of closing the Jordanian borders against all trucks, including those that cross in transit, which means that there is an intentional target against the agricultural sector in Lebanon.” He warned that “the official Lebanese slowdown in dealing with this problem with Jordanians continues. A serious official move towards Jordan is required and a voice against this suspicious border behavior is required.”

He noted that “the Jordanian pass is logistically ready to receive all the Lebanese agricultural convoys, but there is no official Jordanian decision to open this pass and facilitate the movement of Lebanese land exports, despite the good relations between Lebanon and Jordan, And that is why we are surprised by this measure against Lebanon, and we appeal to them in the name of affection, love and brotherhood. What unites the brother peoples of Lebanon and Jordan, to solve this problem.
