A month after the Beirut port explosion, Gilbert Qaraan recalled his fiancée, paramedic, Sahar Fares, the daughter of al-Qaa, who was martyred after she came with 9 of her fellow Beirut Fire Brigades to put out the harbor fire.

Qaraan said, via LBC, to Sahar: “Forgive me, because I went with you and looked a lot, and I didn’t find you.”

He added: “You have become my link from on high, and God forbids those who have deprived me of you, and the one who has news and has done nothing saying that God will not tempt you. And God will not cause our pain.”

And he continued, addressing his fiancée: “You are not a number, and your right will not disappear, and you are not a number. You are a heroine, you were a girl with nine young people who did not divide you and your promise will be your right.”

Qaraan noted that “Sahar” has become the first female martyr in Lebanon’s history in the military.

He said with emotion: “After me, sitting at home, sitting, hanging, knocking on the door, and I have lost, magic that has not gone while we are Christians and believe, and God does not stop our pain.”

He added: “At 3 months it was my birthday, and at 4 Sahar died, and I was 90 years old, not 30.”
