Parolin’s visit came immediately after the uprising of the Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Bishara Boutros Al-Rahi and his insistence on the principle of active neutrality. The Holy See adopted this proposal and tried to “codify” it through Vatican diplomacy spread throughout the world, since neutrality constitutes a solution to the Lebanese problem.

Most importantly, the visit coincides with the Maronite Patriarch’s warnings against the introduction of the triangle in an attempt to define a new formula and a distribution of power between Sunnis, Shiites and Christians, so that the Christian presence in the Lebanese system will diminish. after the fall of the demographic presence of Christians.

Faced with all these dangers, the Vatican will affirm its absolute refusal to hit the Lebanese formula based on Christian-Muslim coexistence and go towards the triangle, because with this we are facing the disappearance of the Lebanese model.

On this basis, Parolin will focus on the importance of preserving the exceptional Lebanese model and not going into adventures that could lead to a reaction or something like a civil war, especially since the concern of the Holy See is to save the Lebanese people from the abyss. in which he is drowning, and Pope Francis blessed the Lebanese youth revolution. On October 17, he then appealed to people for help after the August 4 explosion, and the scene of him kissing the Lebanese flag the day before yesterday is nothing more than evidence of his interest in Lebanon and his appreciation for the struggles and sufferings of people.

It is worth noting that Parolin’s visit comes days after the departure of French President Emmanuel Macron from Beirut, and the Vatican’s position is no different from Paris’s position on the Lebanese political class, as the Pope previously said that the rulers of Lebanon are increasing the suffering of the people.

In a related context, Lebanese political officials may be faced with a second “guaranteed” brochure that is no less important and important than a crafty “pawn” to them, because the Holy See knows how the rulers have led the people into poverty. and to hunger, and therefore Parolin will demand that they do something to save and they cannot remain deaf to hear the voice that rises and suffers of the people.
