Ismail Haniyeh, head of the political bureau of the “Hamas” movement, discussed, on Thursday, with a delegation from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, in the Lebanese capital Beirut, Arab normalization with Israel, and other Palestinian issues.
“Hamas” said in a statement that “Haniyeh met in Beirut with a delegation from the Popular Front headed by Under-Secretary-General Abu Ahmed Fouad, to discuss projects targeting the Palestinian question.”
The two sides considered, during the meeting, that Arab normalization with Israel “is inconsistent with the culture of the nation that rejects any recognition of the legitimacy of a usurping entity that will leave occupations of similar settlements as deportees.”
According to the statement, the meeting emphasized that the Palestinian issue, especially in this “dangerous stage,” requires more unity in positions between the factions, and coordination on various issues.
Since the beginning of this year, the Palestinians have faced multiple challenges, such as the “Deal of the Century,” which is an unjust American political plan against the Palestinians, then an Israeli plan to annex about a third of the occupied lands of the West Bank. , and after that the United Arab Emirates and Israel agreed to normalize relations between them, which was announced on the 13th last August.
On the other hand, the statement said that the meeting also discussed “the humanitarian and social conditions of the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon.”
The meeting agreed on “the need for serious work to eliminate the hardships of the refugees.”
They also highlighted “the rejection of resettlement and displacement, and everything that may harm Palestinian refugees and their host countries,” according to the same statement.
Around 174,422 Palestinian refugees live in Lebanon, in 12 camps and 156 localities, according to the latest count by the Lebanese Central Statistics Department for the year 2017.
Haniyeh is visiting Lebanon, leading a Hamas delegation, to attend the meeting of the trustees of the factions scheduled for Thursday in the cities of Ramallah and Beirut simultaneously, with the participation of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, to discuss the confrontation with the Israeli “annexation” plan.
