Macron confirmed that the investigation into the port explosion is being carried out with international technical assistance to ensure transparency, highlighting that this cooperation is going well, and there have been meetings and exchanges of capabilities between the Lebanese and French security services.

Macron indicated that 700 members of the French army were deployed and worked in cooperation with non-governmental organizations on the ground in Beirut, and some of them worked to support the relevant authorities in the investigation of the port explosion, and the cooperation is going very well. .

He stressed that we will continue the crisis of the Crown, which has worsened negatively in recent weeks, and we will contribute an additional 7 million euros to the center that cares for Corona patients and assistance to medical institutions.

He stressed that the support is carried out with high transparency for the benefit of the people through Lebanese non-governmental organizations, noting that there is a lot of aid on the way to Lebanon, which arrives through the United Nations channels.

He stressed that we will continue to support Lebanese food and educational institutions for the return of students to schools, noting the need to eliminate the difficulties caused by the explosion and the economic and financial crisis.

Macron noted that education is a top priority, noting that a large number of young men and students who met today said they fear the future and said: “We seek to strengthen our role in this regard and provide support to families affected by the explosion”.

He noted that we discussed the reform agenda today, stressing that Lebanese and officials must learn a lesson from the tragedy that occurred in Beirut, adding: “I did not come today to bring an ultimatum, but I came back to help Lebanon and accompany it to its future. “.

Macron considered that the formation of the government should not take more than 15 days, and the important thing is the roadmap that was confirmed by all the political parties.

He said: “I wanted to organize an international conference in Paris and I invited the three presidents, and we will recruit international support institutions and presidents to build this international support.”

He added: “I must mention this date, September 1, 2020, which marks the occasion of the centenary of Greater Lebanon, and emphasize the friendship between France and Lebanon, which will continue and prevail over us.”

Macron revealed that today he has obtained everyone’s approval for a roadmap, and the Lebanese players must agree on how to implement this program.

He said: “If the politicians in Lebanon fulfill their obligations, we will fulfill our obligations.”

Macron considered that the road map includes reforming the central bank and the banking system, calling for progress in the coming weeks and stressing that the international community will support the reforms in Lebanon by providing financial assistance.

Macron, in response to a question about sanctions, said: “I am in the habit of quoting the following phrase:” Trust is the other’s problem. I am confident tonight, but I clearly said that if the Lebanese parties do not implement what they promised at the end of October, we will take the results and they must bear the consequences, then they will not. We can help Lebanon.

The French president assured that today we will not present Lebanon with a blank check, and I hope that the Lebanese government will fulfill its promises within eight weeks.

Regarding his meeting with the unacceptable president-designate, Mustafa Adib, of the revolutionaries, he said: “The biography of the president-designate shows a promising professionalism and is aware of what is happening. It is the debate that took place on August 6. ”

He indicated that the designated president is clear, and the consensus of the political forces was clear, with the support of a government of specialists and professionals. It will not take months to form, and we are waiting for the government program and the ratification of reforms with a clear agenda.

Macron claimed that if the Lebanese authorities were involved in acts of corruption, there could be sanctions.

Macron said of the Beirut port explosion: “We are technically cooperating with Lebanese investigators and the cooperation is progressing well,” noting that there is violence, and there are artists and intellectuals who say that freedom of expression is not respected, and this is what I discussed with officials, and the role of France is to help journalists and artists to exercise their freedom. .

In response to a question about Hezbollah, he replied: “I am not talking about Hezbollah with its terrorist background, but about its political and parliamentary background, which are forces present in Parliament and perhaps other powers that could not better manage the country.”
