The Israeli bombing of Syria at night resulted in the deaths of 11 people, most of them fighters loyal to Damascus, according to a new balance reported by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights on Tuesday.
The director of the observatory, Rami Abdul Rahman, told AFP that the dead were three regime forces and seven militants loyal to Iran, of non-Syrian nationalities, as well as a civilian.
The observatory’s first night toll reported that five people were killed as a result of the Israeli bombardment of military sites by regime forces southwest of Damascus and other groups loyal to Iran, including Lebanese Hezbollah, in the northern Daraa field in southern Damascus. Syria.
Syrian official media reported that “rocket bombardments” had been bombed in the southern region.
The official news agency SANA quoted a military source as saying: “Two (military) martyrs were raised and seven soldiers were wounded,” as a result of “the Zionist enemy launching an airstrike from the leadership of the occupied Syrian Golan in some of our military sites south of Damascus. “
Later, she announced that a citizen was killed and her husband was injured in the bombing of a village near Damascus.
This bombardment was the second of its kind against Syria during August, when Damascus announced that its defenses had been halted earlier in the month from airstrikes that Israel said its planes had launched in southern Syria.
Israel rarely confirms that it has carried out raids in Syria, but reiterates that it continues to oppose what it describes as attempts by Tehran, which supports Damascus, to establish its military presence in Syria and send advanced weapons to the Lebanese Hezbollah.
In recent weeks, Lebanon has witnessed tensions between Hezbollah and Israel.
On Sunday, Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah promised to respond to the assassination of one of its members in Syria in July. “The Israeli must understand: when you kill one of our mujahideen, we will kill one of your soldiers,” he said in a televised speech.
“This is all registered in the account, and your account will come,” Nasrallah added, referring to the escalation in the borders between Israel and Lebanon in recent weeks.
On Wednesday, the Israeli army announced that its forces had shelled Hezbollah checkpoints near the Lebanese border in response to an attack with gunfire that targeted them overnight. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised a “strong” response in the event of new attacks from Lebanon.
And on July 27, the Israeli army announced that it had waged “fighting” on the border with Lebanon after foiling an attempt to infiltrate a “terrorist cell” on the other side of the border. Netanyahu said at the time that Hezbollah was “playing with fire.”
However, Hezbollah denied having had any confrontation with the Israeli side and reports that an infiltration attempt by its members had been thwarted.
News of the exchange of gunfire at the time came after Israeli media reports suggested a possible Hezbollah response after one of its operatives was killed a few days ago in an airstrike near Damascus, which accused Israel of launch and promised to respond.
