The Information Office of the Presidency of the Republic issued the following statement:

To clarify what happened today with MTV, the media office is interested in clarifying the following:

First: For some time, MTV has been attacking the president of the republic, circumventing principles and professional ethics, and the matter has reached the point of removing the president of the republic and settling for his name without his title. The newscasts on the station continued to persist, to the point of insulting, insulting and making inappropriate epithets against the president of the state, pointing out that all these violations are sanctioned by the laws and regulations in force, in addition to the audiovisual media law that allows the closure of the station when the offense is repeated.

Several attempts have been made with MTV to reconsider the inappropriate form it adopts towards the President of the Republic, however, these attempts did not result in the matter that forced us to apologize for not allowing this station to cover the activities of the Baabda Palace, as long as it does not value and respect the President of the State up to the limit of not being recognized in his presidential capacity.

Second: Despite all the crimes, the Information Office did not withhold from the MTV station all the news related to the Presidency of the Republic that the office continues to provide to the station in accordance with the approved regulations.

Third: The measure adopted against MTV cannot be considered as a violation of the freedom of the press that the Presidency of the Republic wishes to defend and exercise without restrictions, with the exception of what is stipulated in the applicable laws and regulations.
