A recent Chinese study revealed that the Corona virus can be transmitted to homes through places that many do not think of, raising the alarm about the possibility of controlling the epidemic.

The study indicated that the Corona virus can be transmitted inside homes and through apartments through toilets and sewer pipes that share more than one apartment, especially in multi-story residential buildings.

The study, whose results were published on the well-known Science Direct site, focused on the discovery of the Corona virus in the bathroom of an apartment in the city of Guangzhou, in southern China, despite the absence of patients in it.

The study indicated that the virus may have entered the apartment located on the sixteenth floor through the toilet or drain pipes, and traces of the virus were discovered in the sink, faucet and shower handle.

The bathroom contaminated with the Coronavirus was discovered, in an apartment that housed 5 people, who were confirmed to have the disease.

After the discovery, the researchers carried out a “follow-up simulation experiment” to see if the virus could spread through tubes via tiny airborne particles or “aerosols” that are often produced by the force of the toilet chain.

This “aerosol” has already been found and has moved to 12 levels above where people infected with the coronavirus lived.

The study authors said “the possibility of transporting aerosols through sewer pipes after flushing the toilet into the toilet on the fifteenth floor, through a follow-up simulation experiment in place.”

The follow-up showed that aerosols were found in the bathrooms of the apartments located on the 25th and 27th floors.

However, transmission of the virus through the building’s common elevator cannot be ruled out, according to the study.
