Saudi Ambassador
President Aoun, in the presence of former Minister Jreissati, received the ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Lebanon, Ambassador Walid Al-Bukhari, and discussed with him current and recent developments in the government, as well as issues related to the Lebanese. -Relationships with Arabia and the means to develop them in all fields, as well as currently regionally.
After the meeting, the Saudi Ambassador made the following statement: “At the kind invitation of His Excellency the President of the Lebanese Republic, General Michel Aoun, tonight I visited the Baabda Palace to discuss the most prominent current events in Lebanon. , and I assured you Excellency that the Kingdom has always announced its position and solidarity with the brother and firm Lebanese people in the face of all crises, and that the Saudi vision of Lebanon is derived from the foundations of the foreign policy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which affirms respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs. And that the sovereignty of Lebanon is a historic achievement that was achieved through the struggles of our brother Lebanese people, and we respect this sovereignty.
He added: “I also assured His Excellency that the Saudi position emphasizes the Kingdom’s commitment to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Lebanon and, in particular, the need to accelerate the formation of a government capable of satisfying security, the stability and prosperity of the Lebanese. people. We also urge all Lebanese political parties to prioritize the supreme national interest, given the urgent need to immediately initiate radical reforms that restore the international community’s confidence in Lebanon.
He continued: “We also always emphasize the importance of the content of Security Council Resolutions 1701, 1680 and 1559 and the relevant Arab and international resolutions to preserve the stability of Lebanon and respect its sovereignty and unity. We emphasize that the Taif Agreement is the guarantor of national unity and civil peace in Lebanon.
He concluded: “His Excellency was also informed tonight about the Saudi initiative for peace in Yemen, and His Excellency certainly welcomed this initiative, wishing success and success to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and that peace prevail in the Arab and international world.”
