In a week full of shootings against civilians in the United States, at least 10 people, one of them a police officer, were killed yesterday afternoon by gunmen who opened fire inside a store in Boulder, Colorado, according to police.

This is the seventh shooting incident this week, and the deadliest other than the Atlanta city accident, which killed eight people of Asian descent.
The identities of the victims were not released in Colorado, except for the dead police officer named Eric Tally (51 years old).

“Ten people died at the scene, including one of our officers, the next police officer to respond to the call for help,” said the city’s chief of police, Maris Herold.

According to authorities, a gunman opened fire at a “King Supers” supermarket in the city located 50 km from Denver, the state capital, before police detained him.

For his part, District Attorney Michael Dougherty said, “Today, Boulder witnessed a horrible and gruesome mass murder,” adding that police had arrested a suspect who was injured during his arrest.

Police did not identify the suspect or provide details about the motives for his attack.

According to the US media, the gunman fired with an AR-15 machine gun, which is a very common weapon in the United States, and a large part of the perpetrators of mass killing operations used it.
