Officially … the British Royal Palace responds to the Markle bomb!

In the first official reaction to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s controversial interview with American journalist Oprah Winfrey, Buckingham Palace in the UK issued a statement Tuesday night about the allegations raised during the press meeting.

The statement stated that issues of an ethnic nature cause concern and will be addressed, in response to Meghan Markle’s saying that a fear was generated in the palace, when she was pregnant, about the skin color of her expected baby at the time, and the probability that it was brown and dark.

Megan complained about her lack of acceptance in the royal family, so she left Britain with her husband, first heading to Canada and then moving to the United States.

Meghan Markle did not specify who raised these “racist concerns” specifically, and this statement was the strongest of what was mentioned in the interview.

A spokesman for the palace said: “The entire royal family is in mourning to learn of the extent of the difficulties that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have faced in recent years.” He added that the issues raised in the interview, “especially race, are cause for concern.”

The spokesperson emphasized that Prince Harry and his wife Meghan will always be loved by royalty.

Winfrey’s television interview with the couple sparked the royal family’s biggest crisis since the death of Princess Diana, Harry’s mother, in 1997, when the family headed by Queen Elizabeth was widely criticized for delaying comment.

A spokesman for British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Tuesday that the latter had seen the interview but declined to comment.

On Monday, Johnson said he “has the highest appreciation of the Queen, but does not want to talk about the interview.” For her part, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said: “It is unlikely that Queen Elizabeth will remain Queen of New Zealand any time soon.”
