In recent hours, Lebanese streets have been concerned about the issue of loose borders between Syria and Lebanon that are lined with dozens of illegal crossings working to smuggle goods into and out of Syria, amid Hezbollah accusations of being involved in it, or at best, forgive it.
The party, which went early to Syria to fight in defense of the regime, asked on Wednesday, through its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, to coordinate with Damascus to resolve this dilemma!
A statement that sparked outrage from many Lebanese on the communication sites, who believed that Hezbollah is now shaping the policies of the government and the presidency in Lebanon and determining its decisions from the economy to security and other areas.
Ironically, Nasrallah’s speech coincided with a meeting of the Supreme Defense Council on Wednesday night to discuss the issue of cross-border smuggling with Syria.
There is no doubt that the archive of the crossings is a very sensitive archive for Hezbollah, which is active on the border line between Lebanon and Syria.
# Nasrallah _ country_ ruined
While several local media outlets reported that the Supreme Defense Council meeting showed consensus among most Lebanese leaders on the need to stop smuggling, Nasrallah considered this file to be thorny, chronic and ancient between the two countries, and called for cooperation between the Lebanese government and Damascus and the Lebanese army and the regime’s army.
As soon as the pro-Iranian party leader’s speech ended, many Lebanese criticized him and Nasrallah’s # ruin of the country spread in reference to the party’s positions that violate the sovereign decision in the country continuously and in many archives, accusing the party of offering its interest and the interest of Iran in the interest of Lebanon.
More than 124 smuggling crossings
It is noteworthy that the Supreme Defense Council announced last year that there were “more than 124 smuggling crossings in Lebanon”.
These crossings and smuggling operations threaten the country’s economy and contribute, in the opinion of many economists, to the fiscal deficit and the reduction in imports.
Military sources informed in a previous investigation to “Al Arabiya.net” that the smuggling is carried out from various sides, and by gangs that use illegal roads (most of them are rough), especially in the border areas in Baalbek and Hermel in Bekaa, and the smuggling of stolen cars ranks first in Smuggling Operations, followed by the smuggling of fuel, in addition to agricultural products and products.
While the former Lebanese Minister of Economy confirmed to “Al Arabiya.net” that the value of the goods smuggled through legitimate crossings is estimated at around one billion dollars.
